engine issues (check engine light) <-- New

i have a 94 pup with a 2.3l and i have an engine light that comes on when u first crank it and then goes out after it seems to warm up. i cant figure it out and tryin not to pay the expensive diagnostic fees if i dont have to. if anyone can help it will be great thanks
